WHO are we?
We
are public sector lawyers attached to various departments and administrations in
the respective spheres of government in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal.
Recognising
the need for a
separate, visible and sustainable structure on the basis of voluntary
association -
(a) to organise
and empower public sector lawyers; and
(b) to support public sector lawyers in the co-ordination of the provision of
professional, non-partisan legal services and legal advice in the public sector,
within KwaZulu-Natal, we formed
the Association
as the
representative body of the organised legal profession in the public sector in
KwaZulu-Natal in accordance with the provisions of our
Constitution.
We have attempted to set high standards
for our members for the provision of legal support services in the public sector
in accordance with a strict and laudable
Code of Ethics
(appearing directly after the Constitution as Schedule 1).
The Code of Ethics is justiciable for purposes of disciplinary action against
members of the Association.
KAPSL on 6 June 2008 had
39 founder members.
